AAHA-accredited, Fear Free certified, and dedicated to your pet's well-being
Paws & Claws Veterinary Clinic was founded in 2010 by Dr. Sarah Mitchell, DVM, who dreamed of creating a veterinary practice where cutting-edge medicine and genuine compassion go hand in hand. After completing her residency at the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine, she opened Paws & Claws in Nashville's Hillsboro Village neighborhood.
What began as a small two-room practice has grown into a full-service veterinary hospital with four doctors, twelve support staff, and a loyal community of over 14,000 patients. We remain independently owned and operated, allowing us to focus entirely on what matters — the health and happiness of your pet.
We believe veterinary visits should be as stress-free as possible — for pets and their people. As a Fear Free certified practice, our entire team is trained in techniques that reduce anxiety, fear, and stress during every visit. From calming pheromone diffusers to separate waiting areas for dogs and cats, every detail is designed with your pet's comfort in mind.
Our commitment to excellence earned us AAHA accreditation — a distinction held by only 15% of veterinary practices nationwide. This means we voluntarily meet over 900 standards of care in areas like diagnostics, surgery, pain management, and client communication.
Meeting over 900 standards of care across diagnostics, surgery, pain management, dental care, and facility operations.
Every veterinarian, technician, and support staff member is trained and certified in Fear Free handling techniques.
Our doctors complete over 80 hours of continuing education annually — double the state requirement — to stay at the forefront of veterinary medicine.
Schedule your pet's first visit and see why Nashville families trust us with their companions.
